Thank You!

My first 'real' word :-)
Hmm, saying 'Ma Ma' or 'Pa Pa' is harder than I thought.

50 Weeks Old

I am 50 weeks old today. In 2 more weeks, I will blow my first candle *yippee!*
Mom said, it is getting more and more challenging to feed me these days. She said that I get bored easily during meal time and must be distracted with other things. She also found out that after a few spoons of the same type of food, I will start to shake my head and clench my lips. But when she tries to feed me a different type of food straight after, I will start to eat again and then start to do the same after a few spoons. It goes on and on.
I have also already eaten normal rice. But apparently it took me forever to finish my meal. So Mom would cook my rice much softer so I can eat it easily.
For some reasons, my nap time is getting longer and longer. Starting yesterday, I napped for about 3.5 hours! Today I also napped for almost 4 hours during the day. Usually, I will nap from 12-1PM to 4PM, wake up to have my lunch, then by 8 PM I will start to get sleepy again. I need to have another short nap by that time so I won't get too cranky and can eat my dinner well.
Mom is secretly happy with this development of mine, because it means that she can get more things done in the afternoon :-) And oh, this long nap usually happens at home though.

Expensive Seat

This is me and Noah, at Marche - Vivocity, sitting on probably the most expensive high chair I have ever sat on, Stokke Baby High Chair :-)
It is one tight and tummy-pressing chair, but it sure is high.
See Noah's get-me-out-of-here-I-can't-hold-my-tummy-in-anymore expression :-D

Squeezy Nap

This playpen was my bed every night when I was still a newborn. It is situated next to my Mom and Dad's bed. There is a bassinet that can be attached to it so the mattress can be put at a higher level. But since I can stand and mastered the climbing-out-of-the-bed move, it was removed.
Now that I sleep in my bigger cot at night, this playpen becomes my daytime play area. Normally, after my morning bath, Mom would put me inside if she needs to rush things (read: do work) on her computer. I will keep myself busy with the toys and books inside. Well, sometimes, when playing, I can fall asleep on my own, just like in that picture above.
The playpen is now too small for my height, but I still like napping inside there (yes, among the toys and books). I can nap there for 2-3 hours.
Of course, when I am not napping and started to get bored, I would stand, raise my hand and call Mom to get me out of there.

49 Weeks Old

Today I am 49 weeks old. Some of the new 'tricks' (good and naughty ones) that I can do:
- I like to pull my sandal/shoe strap open. Sometimes I even suck on the strap too. Once the shoe is taken off, I will start pulling off my socks.
- I can do High-Five move. Well, only to selected people though.
- I can do Kiss-Bye move (thanks to Po Po and Gong Gong who taught me during their visit).
- I can wink my eyes when someone says "Mata Genit". Well, this does not always happen either. It depends on my mood.
- I can stand without holding on to something for a couple of seconds.
- I can play peek-a-boo very well.
- I can feed Mom my snack when she says "Minta, Nate" (Can I have some, Nate?). Or, I'll just give whatever things that are on my hand that time and hand them over to her.
- I like to bite! Especially Mom's face.
- I can make clicking sounds using my tongue.
- When Mom walks me in my pram in a store, I will try to get my hands on whatever that is near me. I grab and pull them. So, antique stores or shops that have very narrow alleys are a big no-no to me.
- I like to babble a-l-o-t!
- I laugh when watching myself on the homevideo that Mom captured.
- I move around alot during diaper change or when Mom tries to put my clothes on.

Star Cruise Trip

The trip on Star Cruise was a fun one! It seems a bit short, though. We only got to board the ship at about 5:30 PM on Friday. Then, by 12PM Sunday, we were already off the ship.
On day one, we did not do much as Mom, Dad and I were a bit tired. So we slept in early. I could sleep very well in the cabin, without any fussing. Our cabin was the balcony type, so we could see the sea view.
On day two, Mom, Dad and I were exploring the whole ship! We went to the swimming pool, the open deck, kids area and many more. We were up and down the ship, visiting almost the entire floors! My meals were rather challenging for Mom and Dad, because the ship does not really prepare food for babies. So Mom had to request for some plain porridge from the buffet restaurant. Then she just added in any meat and veggies that I could eat. But overall, I could eat just fine.
I was the fave customer among the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant! They adored me so much that they always stopped at our table to have a chat with me or carry me. One waiter said that I reminded him of his own baby that he left back at home.
On day three, we were getting ready to leave the ship. After breakfast, we were queuing to disembark.
What an interesting trip! Enjoy the photos :-)

Yes, Mom, Dad, Gong Gong, Po Po and I will be going on a trip on Star Cruise.
I am so excited, I can't wait!
I need to start practicing my 'Titanic' pose he he he.
Will be updating you with some photos from the cruise soon ;-)

Sleep Easy

I am very blessed that I am the kind of boy that can easily fall asleep. I can sleep practically anywhere. I can sleep when I am on my pram in crowded places. I can sleep when I am sitting on a booster chair at the restaurant. I can sleep when I am playing inside my playpen. I can sleep even when I am eating.
Mom has been training me since I was 3 months old to sleep without having me rocked or carried. To make it even easier, it is probably in me, you know, the 'easy sleeper' type.
Well, it has not been a super smooth journey for Mom and I. There were times when I only could sleep if she breastfed me. There were times when she had to bear with me crying in the room and accompany me until I fall asleep. There were also times when she had to hold me tight on the bed to prevent me from moving around so I can finally fall asleep.
But things got better and better. However, I am yet to master one final sleeping skill: to sleep in my own room instantly once I am put on my bed, lights switched off and I am alone in the room.
And oh, my favourite sleeping spot is of course, in between Mom and Dad on their master bed :-)

48 Weeks Old

I am 48 weeks old today. My appetite started to get better. I can now eat quite a big portion. BUT, I need to be distracted. As my feeding process takes a while each time (30-40 minutes), I get bored easily. So Mom would need to distract me by giving me toys or anything that I can hold on to, examine and play with.
I also started to take vitamins. Mom thinks that perhaps with taking vitamins, my immune system will get better and I won't get sick that easily. I am now taking Seven Seas - Multivitamin Syrup for Kids. At first sip, I coughed it out and refused to take more. But Mom tried diluting it with water, and put it in my juice bottle. This way, I can drink it easily.
In the photo, it's me with Gong Gong and Po Po outside Din Tai Fung, Paragon. We were queuing to have lunch there.

11 Months Old

With Koko William & Koko David

Wow, I am just 1 month shy from being a 'Big One'! Mom and Dad often tell each other how fast I have grown and soon I won't be depending on them so much anymore. They could not thank God enough for all the guidance and providence that He has given them and me. They are also very grateful that they are given the time and chance to spend with me, to be my parents, to love and nurture me. In their hearts, I will always be their baby boy.
In the photo, it is me with Koko William and Koko David. They are my cousins. Both of them inspire me to grow big and tall :-)

Viral Infection

Finally, after one week of ordeal, I am now 'back on my feet' ;-)
Yes, I have been sick for the past 2 weeks or so. But this week is more trying on Mom, Dad and I. On Monday morning, I got a fever and my temperature was about 38 degree Celcius. The temperature did go down during afternoon, but in the evening, it went up again to 39 degrees. So Mom and Dad brought me to see a paediatrician.

According to her, I got some kind of viral infection and the fever will last for 3-4 days. After which, some body rashes would develop to signal the end of the fever. She prescribed me some fever medicine and no antibiotics as they will not help to fight viral infections. She instructed Mom to give me the medicine every 6 hourly. The next day, I was OK again in the afternoon, but the fever started to go up again in the evening. I lost my appetite and was feeling uneasy the whole day. My fever lasted for 3 days only. And today, I am feeling much much better. Not much appetite yet, but happier :-)

And oh, Gong Gong, Po Po, Akyu Ta Ming and his family are coming to Singapore. I will get to spend some time with them *yippee!*

47 Weeks Old

My updates at 47 weeks:
- I respond easily to the sound of singing. I would 'dance' by moving hands (just like in the picture).
- I drink about 180-210ml of milk 2-3 times a day. Sometimes I can not finish the whole bottle. I am still breastfeeding for my morning milk feed.
- I love my bath time alot. But when the water is rather cold, I will stand up from my bathtub (by holding on to the side) and make noises (as if I am saying "Cold....cold!")
- I eat 3 meals a day. Mom has restricted the amount of rice crackers that I can eat for snack since I am not eating my main meals well. Sigh, I love those crackers!
- I love fruit juice! I can easily finish 1.5 bottle (each bottle is about 125ml) a day!
- I love pasta! With anything. Tomato sauce, herbs, pesto, cheese, and so on.
- I can sit on my high chair while waiting for Mom to finish cooking, doing laundry or washing dishes after my meal.
- I also love bread. I can finish one slice of thick whole meal bread in one go. I also like bananas alot.
- I babble alot. I like to say 'Eh!" when calling people, especially Aunt Cindy he he.
- When people sing Hallelujah Praise Ye The Lord and give their right hand to me, I will shake their hand too :-)
- I can walk by pushing something (like a table or chair) on a non-slippery (e.g. carpet) surface.

Ouch!

My first 'split lip' accident
Was standing near my Dad's side of bed when I slipped, fell down and bumped my lip on the bed frame.
Dad said, well split lip is sexy though *LOL*

46 Weeks Old

I am 46 Weeks old today. Just when recently my appetite started to improve, then I got cough & runny nose bugs again. Hence, I started to eat lesser, again. Mom is shaking her head *tsk tsk tsk*. She has to start cranking her brain to find out new ways (or new recipes) to get me to eat more. Poor Mom.
Yes, the flu bug is everywhere now. Maybe because of the sudden change in Singapore's weather. Sometimes the weather is hot and humid, and suddenly it rains and rains.
Mom said I become more and more active. I could not stay still. I can now climb out of my playing pen and baby cot. Dad has lowered the baby cot again to the lowest to prevent me from climbing out again.
For some reason, it is getting more difficult for me to sleep on my own at home. So Mom has been training me to do so. When it is my nap time, she would prepare my room (turn on the music and air con, put the curtains on a little bit), then she put me in my cot. She'd tell me to go to sleep and then leave the room. I would cry for sure. On the first day, I would cry for more than half an hour before I go to sleep. But on the subsequent days, it only takes about 10-15 minutes for me to sleep on my own.
Nowadays, I occasionally have a very long nap, for about 2.5-3 hours. Mom is ecstatic when this happens, coz it means that she can do more of other work at home. I now have 1 -2 naps only every day.
